• While no formal state sponsored programs exist, SB111, which went into effect on February 23, 2023, permits accident and health or life insurance companies to create a line of “family health insurance” and offer coverage directly to employees.
Coverage is provided to an employee to pay for a percentage of the employee’s income loss due to any of the following reasons:
- Birth or adoption of a child by the employee;
- Placement of a foster child in the home of the employee;
- Care of the employee’s family member who has a serious health condition; or
- Circumstances arising because the employee’s family member who is a service member is on active duty or has been notified of an order to active duty.
