• Florida enacted HB721 on May 26, 2023, which authorized life insurers to issue Paid Family leave insurance and to define the terms of the policies, such as the length of the leave so long as it is a minimum of 2 weeks, etc.

All policies issued are subject to review by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation and may be issued to replace income for any of the following reasons:

1. Birth, adoption, or placement for adoption or foster care;
2. Care of the employee’s family member who has a serious health condition; or
3. Circumstances arising because the employee’s family member who is a service member is on active duty or has been notified of an order to active duty.
