Nebraska

  • Goes into effect October 1, 2025.
  • Employers are required to provide written notice regarding Nebraska’s Healthy Families and Workplace Act (HFWA) by September 15, 2025. Model notices and posters will be made available to employers for distribution prior to that date.
  • All employees (full-time, part-time, temporary, etc.) will be able to use paid sick time for a variety of reasons after they have completed at least 80 hours of consecutive employment in a calendar year in Nebraska.
  • Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen signed Legislative Bill 415 into law on June 5, 2025, which made some key modifications and clarifications to the HFWA, as it was initially proposed. For example, employers with 10 or fewer employees are now considered exempt. Certain aspects of the law have become more explicit as a result of the amendments.
