• Rhode Island currently has an active law in place for paid family and medical leave.

• Employees working in the state can receive up to 30 weeks of paid leave for medical reasons, with a shorter duration provided for family reasons such as bonding with a new child or caring for a family member.

• In March 2024, the Rhode Island State Senate approved a bill to increase the family specific leave requirement to 24 weeks. Current state law provides up to 13 weeks of family leave. We will continue to monitor Rhode Island for any updates, should this bill clear the further legislative huddles necessary to become law.
