• There are no existing state-wide paid family leave laws applicable to all employees in effect at this time

• Although, paid family leave specifically for state employees was signed into law in 2022 by Governor Henry McMaster via Act 149, which provides state employees with up to six weeks of paid parental leave for the birth, adoption, or fostering of a child.

• On August 16, 2023, Governor McMaster clarified the law to explicitly recognize school district employees in addition to state employees.
