• Tennessee recently enacted SB454, which went into effect on January 1, 2024, and allows life and disability insurance carriers to issue Paid Family Leave policies directly to employers either as a standalone policy or an amendment/ rider to an existing life or disability income policy.
Paid leave may be issued to pay for a percentage or portion of an employee’s income loss due to any of the following reasons:
- Birth or adoption;
- Placement of a foster child in the home of an employee;
- Care for a family member with a serious health condition; or
- The status of a family member of the employee who is a service member on active duty or who has been notified of an impending order to active duty.
